Scratching the surface

Welcome to my site! I am an artist primarily working in water-soluble mediums like watercolor, gouache, and ink. Occasionally, I revisit my former flames of graphite and pastel. Through each season of my life, I have needed to make things. Sometimes it has been traditional fine arts, sometimes knitting, or making little humans, and for a huge chunk of time making maps (and endless presentation slides).

I began my formal art education at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and transitioned to a BFA program following graduation. After two years, I found myself in a geology course and my practical, analytical side took over. Nearly 20 years later, after having being shoved to a seat in the way, way back, my creative side has been able to take the wheel.

Like many others, my family experienced a shift in our lives in 2020 and that shift brought us to Maine. With the support of an amazing partner, I embraced a period of self-(re)discovery. These days, I’m actively engaging with my local art community and nurturing my love for painting and drawing. Through sharing my artworks, I hope to contribute a unique voice to the local arts scene. As I hone my voice and skills, I invite you to follow along. I am not sure what I’ll come up with next—though there’s a good chance it will feature an ammonite!
